Hanover, Pennsylvania’s current population is 14,535. Just 54 miles away is Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which seats 48,876 people. The hottest spot in Hanover is The Golden Mile, a shopping center with a Ruby Tuesdays, Starbucks, McDonalds, and Chili’s. You can find all those inside Camden Yards, plus you can also watch the Orioles blow another game, bask under the springtime sun, and pound beers like it was your last day on earth. The point to all of the mathematics is quite simple: Hanover is a freakishly small town, at least to anyone who lives in a big city. So to get noticed nationally as a resident of Hanover is definitely a bigger accomplishment than, say, hitting a homerun at Camden Yards or even streaking the field as a result of one too many beers. The odds are undoubtedly against you.

I’m crawling up SoCal’s 405 freeway in an ‘81 Suburban, on mile three of about 100 to go. It’s an ungodly hour to be awake, morning traffic is bad, and I’m legally confined to the right two lanes. I’ll be here for hours before I can drop my cargo, put in a 12-hour work day with it, and then repeat my trip in the opposite direction… in evening traffic. And I’m getting a cold. But if you asked me eight years ago what I was doing, my reply would come quickly: Living the dream!

We’ve said it before, but one of the best things about our job is meeting die-hard enthusiasts. And we’ve found these guys are often attracted to certain types of cars - usually older models, often quirky and always difficult to find parts. Yet the struggle to keep the car on the road endears it more.

Deemed by several journalists and auto enthusiasts as one of the best street tires on the market, the Yokohama Advan AD07 set the standard for tire performance. It was a tire you could drive to and from work but one that would also instill confidence and offer incredible grip on weekend track events or if you encountered a stretch of twisty canyon roads.

For more than ten years, Rob Camp has been serving as a mechanic for the United States Air Force. Stationed at Luke AFB in Avondale, AZ, he wrenches on the nation’s F-16 Fighting Falcons, with engines capable of 915mph at sea level and 1500mph at altitude. While not on the same scale as an $18 million jet, Rob also shares an enthusiasm for driving and modifying compact cars, like his Jazz blue ‘03 VW GTI 20th Anniversary Edition.

Where would we be without the EVO?
Mitsubishi’s latest turbocharged all-wheel-drive wonder has an uncanny ability to grab the imagination and set off fantasies about the good times that could be had while driving it. Even straight from the factory, it must be one of the most affordable cars that can still turn heads. Steve Baez had his turned, even though he’s used to more upscale European wheels like the VW GTI, Scirocco, BMW 325i and a couple of M3s. He still owns a Range Rover Sport (the supercharged model). But the Evolution, on this occasion an ‘06 IX (bought new in 2005), hooked him, just as it has so many others. The quest for more power and performance inevitably leads here.
